History
Boliviamanta was founded June 12, 2006.
The core
group is formed of children and young adults of various ethnic backgrounds
bringing Bolivian Folkloric dances to life by sporting bright, sparkling
sequence costumes handmade locally as well as brought from Bolivia.
Thus
far in its short existance, Boliviamanta has performed at various local events
and festivals such as:
Overture Center International Youth Dance Showcase Kids
in the Rotunda March - 2007
Boliviamanta featured a jungle
dance called "Tobas" originating
from the Amazonian lowlands of Bolivia; the dance commemorates the clashes
between Incan and Amazonian warriors. Tobas is noted for their spectacular
masks, costumes and feather headdresses. The dance consist of jumping
rhythmically to the sound of drums.
